On February 1, approaching the Chinese Little New Year, our college organized a series of activities for international students to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival. Led by teachers from the School of Overseas Education, 38 international students from Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and other countries who stayed on campus during the winter vacation, participated in the “Fu” character writing activity in their dormitories. Tao Dawei, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President, Mei Guoying, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President, staff from the Security Office, and teachers from the School of Digital Creative, and School of Overseas Education attended the event.

Under the guidance of Teacher Zhang Wenchao from the School of Digital Creative, the students became familiar with the “Four Treasures of the Study” (pen, ink, paper, and inkstone). Teacher Zhang demonstrated writing the character “Fu”, explaining its cultural meanings of harmony and peace. The international students eagerly tried to write their own “Fu” characters, experiencing the charm of traditional Chinese culture and the warm Spring Festival atmosphere.

Tao Dawei extended New Year wishes to the students, caring about their study and life during the winter vacation. He encouraged them to study hard, enjoy life, and together they pasted the handwritten “Fu” characters on the doors. The international students expressed gratitude for the college’s care and support.

The international students also participated in a fire-fighting drill with on-campus teachers, students, and property management staff. At the drill site, staff from the security office explained the use of fire extinguishers in detail and organized the students to practice firefighting and master fire safety skills. The activity enhanced the emergency response ability and fire safety awareness of on-campus personnel, ensuring campus safety and stability.

Mei Guoying emphasized that fire safety is a top priority in the college’s safety work, and the drill is an effective means to improve fire safety awareness and prevent fire accidents. She urged everyone to fully recognize the importance of fire safety, apply the knowledge to real life, stay vigilant, and ensure campus safety

As the Spring Festival approaches, the strong festive atmosphere grows. Through activities like hanging lanterns, pasting couplets, and writing “Fu” characters, international students at our college fully experience Chinese New Year traditions, deepening their understanding of Chinese culture. Our college will continue to guide international students to positively spread China’s positive energy, tell China’s stories compellingly, and cultivate global talent.
