Residence permit

International students who hold X1 visas must apply for a residence permit within 30 days after entering the country at the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Wujin District, Changzhou Public Security Bureau.

Required materials:

(1) Original and photocopy of valid passport (ordinary passport) and visa, including the first page, entry stamp page, and visa page;

(2) The original copy of the Admission;

(3) The original copy of ‘Visa Application Form for Studying in China’ (JW201 or JW202);

(4) ‘Visa Application Form for Foreigners’, paste a recent two-inch frontal bareheaded color photo with white background (taken at the entry and exit site);

(5) ‘Foreigner Visa Application Letter’;

(6) Temporary residence registration certificate;

(7) The original ‘Verification Certificate of Physical Examination Records for Overseas Persons’ issued by Changzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau;

(8) A copy of the legal person certificate of the institution issued by the school.


Precautions:

(1) International students who hold a residence permit can stay in China within the validity period of the residence permit, and can also enter and exit China multiple times.

(2) International students who need to continue to stay or reside in Nanjing after the expiration of the visa or residence permit must apply for an extension before the expiration.

(3) If there is any change in the address of the international student, the institution where they are studying, etc., they must apply for a change of residence permit to the Entry-Exit Administration Brigade of Wujin District, Changzhou Public Security Bureau within 10 days.

(4) To apply for a residence permit, fees must be paid in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Wujin District, Changzhou Public Security Bureau.

(5) International students who hold the reason of residence as ‘study’ are not allowed to work in China.

(6) Penalties will be imposed by public security organs according to law on foreigners who illegally reside (stay) in China or commit other illegal acts or those responsible for the actions.

(7) The exit and entry administration department of the public security organ has the right to refuse to issue foreigners' visas and certificates according to law, and has the right to revoke or declare invalid visas and certificates that have already been issued.
